Why can't the DiskOnChip not be detected during the boot process?
Solution:
There is one question that is asked by a lot of customers: "Why can't the DiskOnChip not be detected during the boot process? Is the DiskOnChip faulty?" If DiskOnChip wasn't detected by your system at boot, then it still could be that the DiskOnChip is operational. Only the firmware on the DiskOnChip itself is probably corrupted. This can be easily solved by using the DFORMAT utility of M-Systems. Please download the latest DiskOnChip utilities from our web site: www.m-sys.com. The latest version of the DiskOnChip utilities is zipped into a file called "V110.EXE". Please store it at your HD and run "V110.exe" to extract the utilities. In order to restore the firmware on the DiskOnChip, please perform the following steps: 1. Plug the DiskOnChip into it's socket and boot the system from HD or floppy into DOS. 2. Run "DOCPMAP /i" to identifying the DiskOnChip and to provide you with the address of the DiskOnChip in the system. For example, you can see a message like "DiskOnChip is detected at address D800". 3. Run the following command to reformat the DiskOnChip with the latest firmware: DFORMAT /WIN:xxxx /S:DOC110.EXB {with xxxx is address of DiskOnChip} 4. Reboot your system and check that the TrueFFS drivers are loaded during boot and that the DiskOnChip is assigned a drive letter. Should you have any questions, please call me or e-mail me.
