Need to display 640 x 480 picture to full screen in PPC-120 and 140 | |||

Solution:
###### Customer's Mail ########
This question as been asked before, but I want to verify if there has now been
enough world-wide demand for changes.
I see that there is a 640 x 380 resolution BIOS (AUK.BIN) v 2.11, dated 6-9-98
for the PPC-120T (PCM-5868) that only stretches the display and is not a true
"VGA". Even though the PPC-120/140/150 are listed as SVGA or XVGA and are
able to do XVGA, customers still want to do a full screen 640 x 480 because of
their old application being written for VGA and they don't to re-write their
software.
Does ACL now have a BIOS for just plain full screen VGA (not 640 x 380) or is
the closest BIOS and Pentium PPC that will do full screen VGA is the PPC-102S
for a special order? I don't see in Notes that this issue is being addressed
again. Our customers are very reluctant to rewrite their application software
for SVGA or XVGA or to settle for a virtual screen or the screen in the middle
being surrounded by a 2" boarder, etc.
##### Solution ###########
The attached BIOS is for PPC-140 and 120. The BIOS for PPC-140 is the same as
PPC-150. The registers has been changed as below:
FR 40: Horizontal compensation register value to 21h
FR 48: Vertical compensation register value to 17h
That will expend the 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 (PPC-120).
Note that the attached BIOS is for old version of PPC.
If you have new version of PPC (rev. B) , Please extract the VGA BIOS.
Then, combine them.
