How to INSTALL WIN95 into DOC-2000?
Solution:
Installation of Windows 95 on DiskOnChip 2000 DiskOnChip is flash memory device that makes full hard disk emulation through INT 13h. Therefore DiskOnChip can work under Windows 95 and it is possible to load Windows 95 from big enough DiskOnChip. But DiskOnChip is a memory mapped device, so installation of Windows 95 demands several special steps to avoid some unpleasant occurrence of disk failures under Windows 95. Especially it is important for Multi DiskOnChips that uses more that one window in upper memory for every single DiskOnChip. Further, the term DiskOnChip is also used for Multi DiskOnChip. Installation from Floppy: 1. Make DiskOnChip bootable in DOS ( Ver. 6.22 or 7 ?Windows 95 ) 1.1. Prepare DiskOnChip for work 1.1.1. Single DiskOnChip is already ready. 1.1.2. To prepare Multi DiskOnChip please read appropriate App. Note. 1.2. Boot from floppy DOS 6.22 or 7 (Windows 95) 1.3. Format DiskOnChip in DOS and make it bootable: format c: /s 1.4. Reboot from DiskOnChip 2. Install Windows 95 for first time. 2.1. Run Win95 setup from floppies NOTE: This will be an old version of Win95, i.e. it will be 4.00.950. This is before 4.00.95a or 4.00.95b 2.2. Select compact installation 2.3. When you get to the final screen where it asks you to continue and reboot the system go ahead BUT make sure you reboot from a floppy. It first checks that there are no floppies so you will have to let it finish and start the reboot process without the floppy and then hit the reset button. It is very important NOT to let the DiskOnChip boot at this point - if it starts to boot from the DiskOnChip it might already be too late. 2.4. Boot from the floppy and edit the following file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI under the [386enh] section insert the following: emmexclude=d000-dfff - ex
