How to use POS-102 riser card? | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
The POS-102 is a special slot interface called "PISA". The golden finger
contains both ISA and PCI bus. For the female PISA slot can plug in ISA card
directly because the shallower layer is pure ISA pins. The deeper layer of the
PISA slot is the PCI pins, therefore you cannot directly plug PCI card directly
into the female PISA solt because it will short the shalow ISA pins and will be
burnt. On the other hand, as you plug in ISA card, the ISA golden finger is
not deep enougth to reach PCI so it will only use shallow ISA pins and works
fine.
As you plug in POS-102 riser card, its PISA is in special lay out, it's golden
finger contains both ISA and PCI layers to reach those pins. So the riser card
can provide ISA and PCI slot signals. There are some jumper on the POS-102.
the address and IRQ should be taken care of.
The jumper on POS-560 is to set PCI interfrace IRQ (A, B,..etc) and Address. It
need to match the setting in the BIOS of CPU boards. We already pre-set the
default setting of POS-102 to work with POS-560, therefore you don't have to
change the setting yourself.
In order to solve PCI card detaction prolem, please refer to the following
action.
(1) Check if the IRQ and I/O address of the add-on PCI card is conflict with
system. Or, you
can change the IRQ or I/O address and then try again.
(2) Use a ISA card (e.g. VGA card, sound card...etc) to test if the PCI/ISA
expansion bus is
OK. If the PCI/ISA slot is OK, but your PCI card still can not work.
Maybe your PCI card is
not compatible with POS-560. I suggest you to use another card with the
same function.
