How to install USB controller under Win95/98 | |||

Solution:
Before Installation:
1. Make sure there is an available IRQ for USB controller. For example, disable
parallel port (IRQ7) or COM3 (IRQ10) or PS/2 mouse (IRQ12) via BIOS to release
free IRQ.
2. Enable USB Controller under INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS of BIOS
Win95 User:
Version Check:
Verify your Windows 95 is OSR2 2.5 version
Installation Instructions:
Win95 OSR2 V2.5 provides USB driver, it would be detected and installed
automatically via PNP function
After Installation:
Follow [Start] => [Settings] => [Control Panel] => [System] => [Device Manager]
"Universal serial bus controller" item should include "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open
Host Controller" and "USB Root Hub"
Win98 User:
Installation Instructions:
Win98 supports USB driver, it is not necessary to install USB controller via
[Add new hardware], it would be detected and installed automatically via PNP
function.
After Installation:
Follow [Start] => [Settings] => [Control Panel] => [System] => [Device Manager]
"Universal serial bus controller" item should include "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open
Host Controller" and "USB Root Hub"
Notice:
SiS 7001 USB controller is integrated into SiS 5582 chipset, that is why only
SiS 5582 appears on PCB and SiS 7001 appears in USB item.
