How to install USB controller under Win95/98
Solution:
Before Installation: 1. Make sure there is an available IRQ for USB controller. For example, disable parallel port (IRQ7) or COM3 (IRQ10) or PS/2 mouse (IRQ12) via BIOS to release free IRQ. 2. Enable USB Controller under INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS of BIOS Win95 User: Version Check: Verify your Windows 95 is OSR2 2.5 version Installation Instructions: Win95 OSR2 V2.5 provides USB driver, it would be detected and installed automatically via PNP function After Installation: Follow [Start] => [Settings] => [Control Panel] => [System] => [Device Manager] "Universal serial bus controller" item should include "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller" and "USB Root Hub" Win98 User: Installation Instructions: Win98 supports USB driver, it is not necessary to install USB controller via [Add new hardware], it would be detected and installed automatically via PNP function. After Installation: Follow [Start] => [Settings] => [Control Panel] => [System] => [Device Manager] "Universal serial bus controller" item should include "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller" and "USB Root Hub" Notice: SiS 7001 USB controller is integrated into SiS 5582 chipset, that is why only SiS 5582 appears on PCB and SiS 7001 appears in USB item.
