COM ports lose when installing another super I/O card as COM3 and COM4 | |||

Solution:
Problem description:
PCA-6167 has a COM ports lose when installing another super I/O card as COM3 and COM4.
Problem analysis:
After R&D and QE engineers further study, the problem only exist when user sets PCA-6167 (BIOS V1.10) On-board UART1 and UART2 to "Auto" from "INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS" in CMOS SETUP, and uses other Super I/O card (such as PCM-3610) as COM3 (address=3E8h) and COM4 (address=2E8). After the system bootup, user only can see the address setting in COM3 & COM4 and no address for COM1 & COM2. If user change the On-board UART1/UART2 setting to COM1/3F8 (COM1 to address 3F8h) and COM2/2F8 (COM2 to address 2F8h) in the BIOS Setup, then all 4 COM ports can work normal.Since the PCA-6167 UART "Auto" algorithm in AMI BIOS is not as function as presume, it will automatic disable itself when detect an external COM port being installed. This cause the above problem.
