Please never use DOCPMAP /E for DiskOnChip 2000 (DOC 2000) | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
There is one very important thing needed to mention again.
Please never use DOCPMAP /E to the DOC2000!!!
The DOC is coming with a BB table on it (if there are BB) and all the Utilities
like DFORMAT and DUPDATE use this table to map them out. the S/W like driver
and BDK also latter use this table to jump over the BB so for the user they
don't exist.
You don't have to do any other thing about this - just use DFORMAT or DUPDATE
to partition and put your boot code on the DiskOnChip.
When used the DOCPMAP /e erase the BB and you have to put it back somehow - if
you did not save it you could get it from M-Systems by giving your DOC's serial
number. However, M-SYSTEMS only keeps BB table if and only if the DOC capacity
is larger than 12MB. There is no reason I can see why to erase the BB table.
you don't have to take care for the BB issue - it is handled by our S/W Utils
and BDK.
So please don't use DOCPMAP /e ! Normally our software will take care for the
Bad Blocks and it is invisible for the end user. If your DOC shows too many BB
on running our utilities, it means some thing is not OK - DOCs may be damaged
in some situations. Please return it to me for further analysis.
