Solution:

Problem : I found a problem on PCM-5862 B1 audio function, When I used the following configuration for PCM-5862 A1 and PCM-4825 (by using the DOS test program you sent to me) , they both work fine. But it can not work at all on PCM-5862 B1. I have tried three new PCM-5862 B1 and also tried differen IRQ and DMA, but in vein. Windows 95 and 98 can not make audio work either. I/O Base address: 220H First IRQ : 7 First DMA Channel: 0 Second DMA Channel: 0 Second IRQ :7 MPU 401 I/O : 300H Solution : After spending lots of time, I found this problem was caused by a incorrect firmware in ESS1868 chip. The attahed files can fix this problem. The first file (bt1868-5.zip) is some test utilities for ESS-1868 Audio chip. After decompressing it, you can run the program - RUN1868.EXE under DOS to test your Audio function for PCM-5862. You will find the IRQ test will fail. RUN1868 -> [A] Test Configuration -> IRQ Channel Check -> Program reports "ERROR: Failed Configuration Test" The second and third files are to fix the problem. The procedure is: (1) Run DOS operation system and don't load any TSR program or drivers. (2) Type this command after DOS prompt and wait until the process finish. EEPR1868 93lc66.bin (3) Reboot system (4) Run RUN1868.EXE. You will see test pass. ####### 9/1 AAE report Thank you for your time to test the PCM-5862 Rev.B1. Because your test result is different from what I got , I took ten pcs. of PCM-5862 Rev B1 in AAE stock to do an overall testing. I found the audio function is failed on same batch of PCM-5862 Rev.B1. The following table is my test result.
