How to make CRT full screen when resolution is 800x600 or higher | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
This is not a bug. This is a special characteristeic of the chips 65550 and
65545. The LCD BIOS usually display simutenious on CRT and LCD. If you make
resolution to 800x600 or higher, because LCD gets the priority, the display on
CRT will be in virtual mode (scroll screen). There is no way to use CRT and
LCD at the same time without virtual mode. To get full screen disply over 800
x 600 resolution, you need to choose LCD or CRT only BIOS to get the full
screen.
Example
Install Win95, using standard VGA driver.
Change adapter to C&T 65550
Reboot system, Win95 will display correctly in 640x480
Change resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 and apply
Desktop size changes, but can only be seen by scrolling around!!!!
From experimenting, I found that by selecting CRT only in the Refresh section
of Display Properties, the screen would re-size correctly, but this will not
stay this way after re-booting.
To solve this for our customer, I had to use the CRT only bios (5862_CRT.BIN).
