Solution:
The standard PCM-4860 BIOS does not complient to Y2K. It is impossible to
modify the BIOS core to fit the requirement. An alternative solution is to
load an tsr program to make it pass y2k.
The year2000.com and help PCM-4860 pass the NSTL test program 2000.exe.
However year2000.com can only work without reboot system. This is a limitation
of the tsr program. Because tsr program load is wrtten in the DRAM, as
system reboot BIOS time will go over the reset process again. System time
will no keep the right time before you reboot the system. You may suggest
customer put a alarm on the reset line. If system reset, then change the time
manually.
################ BIOS Engineer #######
I have checked this problem, I found it is not TSR program issue. It is BIOS of
PCM-4860 problem. When system boot up, BIOS will check the century is correct
or not. Unfortunary, the BIOS of PCM-4860 is too old to verify 2000. So it
judges 2000 is illegal century and load default 1994 (exact is only 94) to
CMOS, clear time to 00:00:00am. I am sorry to say I can not solve the problem
because we don't have BIOS source code.
