Solution:
SiS 5571 cannot install Win98 English version successfully . System will hang
when checking hardware during installation.
The retail version of English Win98 requires special driver for SiS-5571.
(1) Download 571w98.exe file to some directory in your hard disk or to a
flopy disk.
(2) Decompress the 571w98.exe file.
(3) Run sis98.exe in this directory.
(4) Restart the system.
(5) Install Windows 98.
(6) Double click DOS Pompt Icon. In the root directory C:\ type "edit
autoexec.bat".
Remove the line " c:\sis98\sisfx.exe " in your Autoexec.bat file
after Windows 98 is completely installed.

Dear all,
After trying install Win98 on our cpu cards with SiS-5571, we should consider
different
environments to our customers, for example, with or without MS-DOS 6.22 and
actually
the installation is different. The following installation steps for your
reference could be
applied to the OEM version Win98 (in all kinds of langurage). Note that the HDD
is NOT
configured before install.
(A)With DOS 6.22 boot disk:
1.Boot up with DOS boot disk, and execute FDISK for HDD configuration.
2.Reboot and FORMAT HDD with "/S" parameter.
3.Install DOS 6.22 (3 diskettes) completely (option).
4.Copy the extract 4 files from the SIS IDE driver (571W98.EXE) to root
directory of HDD.
5.Execute SIS98.EXE and it will create SIS98 directory with modifing
AUTOEXEC.BAT.
6.Make sure that there are two files should be exist in the SIS98 directory
after step 5.
(SISFIX.EXE and SISIDEFX.VXD) and the AUTOEXEC.BAT should be modified as
with
"C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE"
7.Insert Win98 boot up disk and following the prompt to finish the
installation.
8.Remove the line "C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE" in the AUTOEXEC.BAT after installation
Win98
successfully.
(B)With Win98 boot disk ONLY:
1.Boot up with Win98 boot disk and following the prompts to configure your H
