System halted and Date error when reboot serveral times and use a CORNER HDD | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
The problem is caused by the incompatibility between the BIOS and CORNER HDD.
After Updating the BIOS from POS-460 Version A1 to Version 2.20, the problem
disappeared.
The differences between the POS-460-S (POS-460 A1) BIOS and POS-460 A2 BIOS
are:
(1) The Award core: You can get the following message from the top screen while
the system is booting up.
POS-460-S BIOS: Copyright (C) 1984-1995, Award Software, Inc.
POS-460 A2 BIOS: Copyright (C) 1984-1996, Award Software, Inc.
The Award core BIOS of POS-460 A2 BIOS is newer than the Award core BIOS of the
POS-460 S.
(2) Boot ROM BIOS: If you want to remote boot into a LAN server (e.g. Windows
NT server, Novell Netware server..etc), you need the Boot ROM BIOS. The Boot
ROM BIOS of POS-460 A2 differs from the POS-460 S. The Boot ROM BIOS is a
independent part in the system BIOS, like the VGA BIOS.
(3) Support LS-120: The LS-120 is a floppy of new model which support high
capacity floppy disk up to 120MB. The POS-460 A2 supports booting from the
LS-120 floppy drive. It is an extra function and it is also an independent part
in the system BIOS.
