Solution:
ADAM-4540 is normally driven with RS-232 +/-12V signal lines like RTS and DTR. If user like to connect external power supply, he can connect +12V to pin 4 DTR and pin 7 RTS of the ADAM-4540 DB-9 RS-232 connector.
