Solution:
The direction used by the VFG will be entered as part of the Gateway BLOCK configuration. When setting up a Gateway BLOCK, you have to define the direction of the Data Flow. It will follow a convention of Master to Slave. So if the VFG is the Master and the connected device is the Slave, then the direction is VFG to Device.
