What is the distance for RS232? | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
The RS-232 specification for RS-232 Distance is 50 feet. This specification is assuming data rate of 115.2k baud. If slower baud rates are used, then the 50 foot limit could go farther, but is not recommended. Being able to extend the range over 50 feet will also depend on the amount of electrical noise in the area. If the connection is in an industrial application, and there is Electrical noise, then there still may be issues when trying to extend the RS-232 even at lower baud rates.
