Solution:
Please use Pin #2 (TX), Pin #3 (RX), and Pin #5 (Ground) of the ETR-RS232 connector for your three wire application. Please leave Pin #7 (CTS) and Pin #8 (RTS) alone, this pair of signals are used for hardware handshaking.
