Solution:
Category: AutoTap
Model numbers Tech note applies to: Autotap
Brief Description: No AutoTap module found
Solution/Troubleshooting:
Is the LED on the hardware unit lit when plugged into a vehicle? (applies to models AT123, ATS, ATU, and ATUEXP). The unit gets power from the vehicle connector, and must be powered from the vehicle. No LED most likely indicates a blown fuse on the vehicle. This is usually the same fuse that supports the cigarette lighter circuit.
1) Verify connection with the computer. For serial connection models, verify the serial port with a loopback connection. For USB connection models, check in Device Manager and verify that the AutoTap is listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and also under Ports or Other Devices, and does not have a yellow exclamation point next to the listing. For USB versions of hardware that are using V2.05 or V3.1 software, make sure they are listed below com 16, with lower always being better. Avoid using Com 3.
2) Another note regarding USB: Make sure if the customer has Windows 7 or Windows Vista, they are using the ATUSB drivers from the AutoTap web site. Errors messages that end in -80xx (8012, 8018, 8021) are almost always related to the driver installation, and can be resolved by reinstalling the driver.
