Solution:
There is an RSSI Range Test function in the Zlinx Manager software that can be used to test communication as described in the Manual. B&B also offers a Zlinx Survey tool (ZZ-SURVEY) that can plug directly into the serial port of any Zlinx modem and see the signal strength and packet flow on the built in display.
