EIR200 Series Switch Voltage Rating | |||

Solution:
The EIR switches have a 10-48 volt rating. Customers are asking if they can exceed the 48 volts. Answer is below. Currently, the EIR line is spec’d for up to 58volts continuous operation. We are reviewing labeling and documentation updates to better illustrate this. The metal shielding of the copper RJ45 jacks is currently common with the power supply ground. That means that if the product is powered by a positive-ground system, that the RJ jack housing will be at 48V. That is of no consequence as long as unshielded patch cables are used. The data lines of the Ethernet ports themselves are fully isolated and our enclosure is plastic, so the only conflict is the shield of the RJ.
