Solution:
The top 3 issues that you should check if your unable to connect through the ETR-RS232:
1. Check your power - the ETR-RS232 requires 9V DC 300mA
2. Be sure that both devices on each end are set for the same baud rate. A mismatch in baud rate will cause no communication to flow
3. Verify you pinouts are correct. Attached is the datasheet that shows the necessary pinouts.
