Solution:
The Quick start guide and manual of the device you purchased should give you instructions on how to do a loopback test.The easiest way is to make sure the Ethernet to serial converter is set to 232 mode.Jump the TX to the RX on the serial port of the Ethernet to serial converter.Just Hyperterminal or another terminal emulator and open the VCOM on the PC to do a test.
