Solution:

ICMP Ping is an option you can enable when configuring TCP/IP master interfaces It sends a Ping request and awaits the answer from the slave server. This way it knows that the server is available even without the backend in the Vlinx requiring communication. The ICMP ping can be used to provide quicker detection of offline devices. The user has no indication of the status of this ping.
