Solution:
VESP VESR Port Forwarding How is Port forwarding handled for multiple VESR901s since all VESR901s use port 771 as the TCP Port If a customer has 2 of the VESR901s to access the virtual coms remotely, how would he port forward the ports since for 2 units, each port will have port 771? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When in VCOM mode, only TCP Port 771 is used no matter how many serial ports the device has. The Digi RealPort VCOM driver (and VCOM library in the firmware) handles multiplexing and demultiplexing the communication to each serial port of the device. There is no way to access multiple VESRs through a router, using the Manager software or web browser. If the customer is doing port forwarding, they might be able to go into the Advanced VCOM properties after installing the VCOM from the manager software. (See the attached picture). http://supportsystem.LiveHelpNow.net/resources//14629/VESR/Digi-RealPort-Settings.png Remember that for the device, it will only use TCP port 771, because it is not configurable. The port forwarding or the router will have to translate for the external TCP port number to the IP address and TCP port 771 of the device; e.g., 12.32.143.10 TCP 771 à 10.1.0.2 TCP 771 (VESx #1) 12.32.143.10 TCP 772 à 10.1.0.3 TCP 771 (VESx #2) This scenario has not been tested by the engineers or the system test team. 8/19/13
