How do I set the baud rate of a 232 to 485 serial converters? | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
We have 2 different types of 232 to 485 serial converters. The first type uses bit-wise, these converters will adjust to up to 115.2 Kbps. No setting has to be done on these converters. The second type will have dipswitches that allow you to choose the baud rate. The baud rate switches do not change the Baud rate of the data, they only change the timing to match the baud rate being used for “2-wre” half duplex operation. In “2-Wire” operation, the Receiver is disabled during Transmit. When “4-wire” mode is in use, the Receiver is enabled all of the time, so as long as the baud rate is higher than the preset, transmit turnaround is not critical. The baud rate switches do not alter the baud rate in RS422 mode, the transmitter is always enabled even with no data being sent.
