What timing is required to perform a factory reset of the module using the Factor Reset Line?
Solution:
The timing should be the same as what is indicated for using the reset button on page 29 in the manual. http://www.bb-elec.com/Products/Manuals/WLNN-DP550-Platform-Product-Specification_R1_2613.pdf The FRESET should function the same as the RESET on the boxed units. Except the freset line should be held on while power is applied to the module to get the factory reset. See below for more details on timing for reset on the eval board. The factory default line tells the device on boot up to erase the user configuration and user password file. So, for the line to take any affect the device needs to be restarted after the button is pressed. You can do this by cycling power or using the reset line (there is a button for the reset on the eval kit). I typically hold both buttons down, release reset, and then release factory_default. After about half a second the device will register that the factory default button was pressed, and it can be released. For 2 seconds after boot up with the factory defaults button pressed there will be a hold on booting linux where the user can break the boot process and enter uboot by sending a character to the debug port. Our boot time is ~10-20 seconds, after which the factory/oem configuration will be restored. Note, that if the device loses power during this boot sequence the device will not restore the factory/oem configuration. Also note, that near the end of that boot sequence the non-volatile storage could be corrupted if it is in the process of writing the memory. There is a configuration backup section in memory that if the configuration is corrupted the configuration will revert to, however that backup will lose the last configuration change.
