Spectre LTE AT&T Router Receives Message "unable to set preferred operator and network type" | |||
---|---|---|---|
Solution:
If you receive an activated SIM card from AT&T and you try using it with one of our Spectre LTE AT&T Routers and it does not connect with correct APN settings, check your system log. A common message seen is "pppsd[512]: unable to set preferred operator and network type". If this is seen make sure the SIM card is registered to a device in AT&T's system. You can do this by calling them or going in and manage your account on AT&T's website. You can then locate the phone number that is assigned to the SIM and see if it is registered to a device or not. Our models are not within AT&T's system so you may need to select a different device. For example another Router like the GX440 From Sierra Wireless or an Android phone. Do not choose an iPhone. We have seen cases where data and SMS does not work properly when an iPhone is chosen. Once the SIM is registered to a device it will then allow the SIM to reach and connect onto AT&T's network. Primary APN to use for LTE: "broadband" Others that may work for LTE are: "pta"or "phone" Leave the other paramaters blank for the connection unless specified by the Operator.
