Is it possible to use the 485HESP as a surge protector for a RS-232 data line? | |||

Solution:
Unfortunately, you would not be able to use the 485HESP as a surge protector for a RS-232 data line. The RS-232 clamping diodes are clamping at a higher voltage than the RS-485 clamping diodes. If your application is talking RS-232 using a 485HESP, then you would be routing a lot of good data to ground.
